Ken Mack, founder of Mounds Pet Food Warehouse, left his job as District General Manager for the Ralston Purina Company in 1974 to devote his time to what was then Mounds Agri Service, a livestock company he founded in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.
Mounds Agri Service was targeted to farmers to purchase their feed and fertilizer. By 1984, where once farm supplies had been stocked, shelves now were lined with pet food, supplies, and accessories. The Janesville location was erected in 1996 and has been one hundred percent employee owned since 2015.
