Hampshire Park

Hampshire Park is a small, neighborhood park located off S Wright Rd/S County Rd J. If you get off Interstate 39/90 at Racine St and head East, turn left onto Wright Road and head North, then turn left onto Canterbury Lane, followed by a right onto Yorkshire Lane/Hampshire Road, you will be able to access Hampshire park. Aside from specified spaces and areas, dogs and cats are prohibited from all Janesville parks between May 15 and September 15. Between September 15 and May 15, dogs and cats are allowed in parks while being on a leash.

Jeffris Park

Jeffris Park is split between Beloit Avenue and Palmer Drive. The extensive park is situated along the Rock River as well as the river winds its way through the park from West to East. Jeffris is home to Dawson Ball Field, a softball complex that has four different fields. The Ice Age Trail is accessible from Jeffris Park which can be trekked to head over to Lions Park. At Lions Park, Ice Age Trail walkers can enjoy Lions Beach, which allow an excellent place to swim and fish during the summer. This also might be where you stop for a great photo opportunity as Lions Park is the home of the Rotary Botanical Gardens.

Fourth Ward Park

Get off Interstate 39/90 at the Racine Street/Business US-14 exit and head West. Follow Racine Street until you go over the Rock River bridge and in five blocks Fourth Ward Park will be on your right. Fourth Ward Park is positioned in between Johnson Street, High Street, Racine Street, and Park Avenue. A comfortable two-acre park situated inside a neighborhood provides a green space and playground for kids to burn off any pent-up energy. Just two blocks North of Wilson Elementary School, Fourth Ward Park is a great place to bring your kids if you want to avoid the crowds at Monterey Park or eliminate the chance of drowning if your kid cannot swim yet.

Laprairie Park

Laprairie Park can likewise be accessed from the E Racine Street exit of Interstate 39/90. Upon exiting the Interstate, head West on Racine Street before quickly turning onto the E Racine Street frontage road, heading towards the Ryan Incorporated Central. Before arriving at the Ryan Incorporated Central, turn right to head South on Myrtle Way. Myrtle Way will wind its way until it meets up with Sharon Road to become South Reed Road. Cross East County Road O and you will be able to access Laprairie Park from South Reed Road. With a decent amount of open field and a small pond, Laprairie Park is great place to get away from it all and get in some alone time with your pet or significant other.

Palmer Park

Palmer Park is located just off the East Racine Street, or Business US-14, Exit of Interstate 90. Right across the street from Blackhawk Golf Course and Blackhawk Park, Palmer Park is an expansive one-hundred sixty-four-acre park that gives access to Blackhawk Meadows Park and the Rotary Botanical Gardens inside of Lions Park. With a wading pool, courts to ball on, and picnic spaces, Palmer Park is an excellent place to get outside and enjoy Janesville’s numerous green places. Be sure to bring your kids to play on the ADA-accommodating playground!
